For the last three years your colleagues in the banking industry have taken advantage of the SBA open door policy, toured the NGPC in Herndon, then attended Coleman’s Herndon SBA Guaranty Purchase Workshop. Feedback from that day has been so overwhelmingly positive that we are doing it again for the fourth year in a row!

And as if a personal tour and Q&A weren’t reason enough to come to Herndon, Coleman has booked the nationally recognized SBA legal expert, Ethan Smith, to answer all of your guaranty purchase questions.

What you will learn from our expert:

  • The specific steps you must follow to work out all SBA loans
  • The key dates that you must adhere to protect the guaranty
  • What to do when SBA does not respond to your queries
  • When you must ask SBA’s permission
  • When you must notify SBA
  • What to do when SBA turns down your request
  • Where to find an ombudsman to help you navigate SBA’s bureaucracy
  • What to do if you hold the first lien position ahead of an SBA 504 debenture
  • What are the implications of an SBA 504 loan “Right of Redemption”
  • How SBA evaluates settlement offers and what to look for in for a settlement offer

Why Herndon?

We chose Herndon, Virginia as the site of the workshop for several reasons.

First, cost. We got a great rate on the hotel — $149.

Next, you won’t need a rental car. There is a continuous shuttle between the hotel and Dulles airport.

Finally, and here’s an added bonus, we’ve scheduled this at Herndon so you may visit SBA’s National Guaranty Purchase Center.

It’s only a half mile from the hotel.

What happens at National Guaranty Purchase Center?

The National Guaranty Purchase Center located in Herndon, Virginia , was created to centralize SBA’s 7(a) loan guaranty purchase function into a single national location.(The Fresno, California, and Little Rock, Arkansas, Commercial Loan Service Centers will continue to assist lenders on accounts that are not in a liquidation status. The Fresno and Little Rock centers also oversee SBAExpress liquidations and guaranty purchases).

This centralization provides increased standardization of the purchase process and a more reliable response time for lenders. The ultimate goal of the Center is to provide consistent, professional and timely service to SBA’s valued lending partners.

Optional Tour: Visit the National Guaranty Purchase Center

This is not an SBA sanctioned event.

However, we have left time in the morning so that you will be able to visit the National Guaranty Purchase Center on your own.
