NFIBLOGOOne in five say poor sales is their number one problem in the NFIB quarterly survey of its members. At the other end of the spectrum the same number say taxes are their single most important problem.

Safe to say you want to target those small business owners in your marketing.

Here are the complete survey results.

Single Most Important Problem for Main Street

Taxes – 20%
Government Red Tape – 20%
Poor Sales – 18%
Cost/Availability of Insurance – 9%
Competition from Corporate America – 8%
Quality of Labor – 6%
Inflation – 5%
Cost of Labor – 4%
Financial and Interest Rates – 2%

Two other key stats

· More small business owners are less optimistic today, than last quarter.
· Fewer believe it is a good time to expand.
