Thomas Zernick Named Florida market president for Stearns Bank

From the Tampa Bay Business Journal….

Thomas Zernick, formerly director of SBA lending and senior vice president at HomeBanc, has managed more than $500 million in Small Business Administration loan production, and will bring that expertise to Stearns, a $1.6 billion Saint Cloud, Minn.-based bank with three locations in the Tampa Bay area.

“We’ll take our Florida commercial lending team and reach out to centers of influence – commercial Realtors, CPAs, business brokers, business attorneys – and tell them about the benefits of SBA lending,” Zernick said.

“We may not be as big as SunTrust or Wells Fargo, but we service clients and cater to their needs. That’s how we will win deals and grow market share,” he said.

LarryEllisSBDC Helps Franchisee obtain one SBA 504 Loan for 70 Jobs

William Marin is an experienced franchise owner. He has owned 14 Subway restaurants and currently owns the only Quiznos Sub restaurant in Corpus Christi. He also now owns the Popeye’s Chicken restaurant in Alice which has the highest sales in the western United States. With this outstanding restaurant experience, William was still always looking for another good business opportunity.

He came to Larry Ellis, his business consultant at the Del Mar College Small Business Development Center (SBDC) with another franchise opportunity.

Larry Ellis helped William with a business plan, financial projections, and all the details for a SBA 504 loan to open his new restaurant. Kleberg Bank did the financing for him. He purchased an existing building and renovated it into a new Papa John’s Pizza in a perfect location in Alice.

William says “his new restaurant would not have been possible without the help of Larry Ellis at the SBDC.”
