George Taylor Receives Coleman SBA Lender Legacy Award

George Taylor is recognized with the Coleman SBA Lender Legacy Award for a career spanning nearly five decades of extraordinary leadership, credit expertise, and unwavering commitment to small business growth. Beginning his banking career in 1977, George built a foundation in credit analysis and commercial lending before rising to executive roles including Chief Credit Officer, President, and CEO—guiding institutions through regulatory challenges and major turnarounds.
After discovering SBA lending as a safe and impactful growth strategy, he became one of the most influential SBA leaders in Colorado, helping build a bank into the state’s largest SBA 7(a) lender for three consecutive years. Now with Midwest Regional Bank, George has personally assisted hundreds of businesses and originated more than $200 million in SBA loans, combining technical mastery with a deep passion for helping entrepreneurs start, expand, and acquire real estate. His legacy includes innovative deal structuring, such as a groundbreaking SBA-financed sports facility project that utilized cumulative preferred equity—an approach approved by the SBA and later replicated in other transactions. Senior management praises George as a pillar of the SBA community, admired for his mentorship, integrity, and lasting impact on both borrowers and the profession itself.
