Main Street Monday: USDA Bans 10 Lenders from Rural Small Business Lending

The following lenders have had participation in all OneRD programs revoked or their approved lender status has not been renewed:
- Bank of Montgomery (BOM) Bank
- Byline Bank
- Celtic Bank
- Community Bank & Trust – West Georgia
- Genisys Credit Union
- Greater Nevada Credit Union
- North Avenue Capital
- Optus Bank
- S. Eagle Federal Credit Union
- ReadyCap Commercial
The May 12th announcement reads;
U.S. Department of Agriculture takes the stewardship of taxpayer dollars very seriously and has no room for noncompliance in underwriting and servicing practices in the OneRD Guarantee program portfolio.
To ensure the long-term viability of the program, the agency conducted a full review of lender performance and found significant instances of non-compliance with the regulatory requirements of the OneRD Guarantee program. The lenders listed have approximately $620 million in delinquent loans, accounting for approximately 47% of Rural Development’s total delinquent loans.
These lenders are not eligible for loan note guarantees under any circumstances.
These changes reflect our commitment to responsible lending practices and program integrity. This action will allow USDA to provide improved customer service and support to the remaining over 750 lenders participating in the OneRD Guarantee program who continue to provide critical access to capital to rural America.
