SBA Hot Topic Tuesday — SBA Budget 2018 Feedback

The 13-page white paper posted on the House Small Business Committee website gives a glimpse into its thinking about the 2018 budget that begins October 1, 2017.

I thought it would be useful to poll Coleman Report readers about some of the committee’s positions.

The $28.5 billion funding level for 7(a) is

• Not enough
• Too much
• Just right

The $7.5 billion funding level for 504 is

• Not enough
• Too much
• Just right

Regarding Lender oversight

• SBA must increase lender oversight activity
• SBA must decrease lender oversight activity
• SBA’s lender oversight is fine as is

Regarding the 10 regional offices

• Close ‘em
• Keep them open as they are an important part in fulfilling SBA’s mission
• Keep them open, but cut staff
