SBA Hot Topic Tuesday: Siemens Secures SBLC License

Last week, the SBA approved Siemens Small Business Lending, Inc. as an SBLC.

A Small Business Lending Company is a non-bank lender licensed and regulated by SBA to make SBA 7(a) loans, with oversight, lending requirements, capital standards, and reporting obligations.

The approval allows Siemens to originate SBA 7(a) loans nationwide and makes the company one of only 16 non-bank lenders participating in the program.

Siemens is one of the world’s largest industrial technology companies. Founded in 1847 and headquartered in Munich, Germany, Siemens operates across manufacturing automation, energy, transportation, healthcare technology, industrial software, and smart infrastructure. Its financing subsidiary, Siemens Financial Services, provides equipment financing, leasing, project finance, and structured lending solutions worldwide.

According to the SBA’s announcement, Siemens is the first industrial technology company to receive an SBLC license.

The approval is significant because Siemens already finances equipment purchases and capital investments for businesses throughout the United States. The company can now add SBA 7(a) financing to its existing product offerings.

The SBA states Siemens will support small businesses in manufacturing, logistics, healthcare, energy, and technology.
