SomerCor Named Coleman CDC of the Year

SomerCor, led by President & CEO Manuel Flores, is being recognized as Coleman SBA Certified Development Company of the Year for an exceptional FY2025 that combined sustained SBA 504 performance with measurable community impact. The organization approved 121 SBA 504 loans totaling more than $163 million and funded 81 projects totaling more than $82.5 million, supporting 261 businesses across 231 communities and helping create or retain 1,919 jobs. FY2025 also marked SomerCor’s fifth consecutive year exceeding $100 million in annual SBA 504 originations, reflecting consistent execution and resilience across economic cycles.

Beyond lending volume, SomerCor strengthened local commercial districts by pairing SBA financing with public-sector resources—administering 146 SBIF grants (~$16 million) and 29 NOF grants (>$2.3 million)—and was selected by Cook County for a $500,000 grant to expand small business lending and launch an SBA 504 Down Payment Assistance Program aimed at helping emerging businesses and first-time owner-occupied buyers overcome equity barriers.
