Main Street Monday — SBA Sends Another “Fork in the Road” Voluntary Resignation Email to Employees

SBA says its elimination of 2,700 jobs will come from voluntary resignations, “expiration of COVID-era and other term appointments,” and a limited number of Reduction in Workforce — RIFs.
Regarding voluntary resignations, SBA sent an email to SBA employees at 5:45 am Saturday reopening its deferred resignation program offering through April 7, says the Federal News Network.
“This program begins effective March 31 and is available to all full-time and part-time SBA employees until April 7,” the agency wrote. “For avoidance of doubt, acceptance of your DRP will be subject to SBA’s approval at its discretion, to ensure continuity of business operations as the agency thoughtfully executes the planned strategic reorganization.”
SBA said employees who take the DRP will be placed on administrative leave by June 1 at the latest, and in most cases by the end of April.
SBA employees who accept the offer “will retain all pay and benefits regardless of your daily workload and will be exempted from all applicable in-person work requirements until September 30, 2025 (or earlier if you choose to accelerate your resignation for any reason),” the email states.
