Commercial Banker Compensation Up 17%

The WSJ published a Commercial Lender Compensation Survey today bringing to light the demand for quality commercial lenders.

The average compensation package for a commercial banker is up 17% this year, to $101,376, according to a survey released this month by Crowe Horwath LLP, a Chicago accounting and consulting firm. That is the highest since the financial crisis and more than twice the annual average compensation of $41,211 in the U.S., according to the Social Security Administration.

Competition to make loans to healthy small and midsize companies is fierce, inspiring lenders to boost paychecks, add perks and start bidding wars with competing banks.
