American Express Reports Small Businesses Plan to Expand in 2024

“Even in uncertain economic conditions, small businesses continue to demonstrate resiliency and dedication,” says Gina Taylor, EVP & GM, Small Business Products & Business Blueprint at American Express. “Our latest data shows small businesses see a positive 2024 ahead and they’re taking steps, including hiring, and implementing new tools, in order to stay proactive and competitive.”

According to a recent American Express small business survey:

• 85% of small businesses are satisfied with the success of their business.
• 86% of small businesses said they achieved their 2023 business goals.
• 50% of small businesses plan to grow or expand this upcoming year.
• 46% of small businesses are excited about new customers.
• 32% are excited to enhance customer retention.
• 28% of small businesses have a goal of hiring more employees.
