Breaking News: SBA Administrator Carranza Confirmed by Senate
The U.S. Senate voted 88-5 Tuesday to confirm SBA Administrator Jovita Carranza. The vote came after nine months of not having a permanent head to the administration, SBA Administrator Linda McMahon left on April 4, 2019 to join a Super-PAC.
Democratic Senators Kirsten Gillibrand (NY), Kamala Harris (CA), Edward Markey (MA), Jeff Merkley (OR), and Ron Wyden (OR) voted against Carranza.
Non-voting Senators included Senators Cory Booker (NJ), Amy Klobuchar (MN), Bernie Sanders (VT), and Elizabeth Warren (MA).
Since 2017, Administrator Carranza has served as the 44th U.S. Treasurer.
Carranza served as Deputy SBA Administrator from December 2006 to January 2009.
