John Kimball to Lead Alerus’s New SBA Lending Department
Alerus Financial Corporation is pleased to announce it is strengthening its SBA lending capabilities with the addition of an expert SBA team led by industry veteran John Kimball. The five-person team collectively has more than 100 years of business banking and small business lending experience at community and regional banks.
“Adding this level of expertise to Alerus will greatly strengthen our SBA lending capabilities and allow us to provide more options and enhanced client service for small business clients,” says Alerus Chief Revenue Officer, Ryan Goldberg. “The pandemic has left some businesses struggling and in need of help to recover. There are also new businesses emerging that may not have the history of operations needed to qualify for traditional lending. Strengthening our SBA lending capabilities allows us to provide more robust assistance for those types of businesses and aligns perfectly with our mission to positively impact our clients’ financial potential.”
Alerus’s new SBA lending team will consist of John Kimbal, Angela Kazmierski, Terri Fleming, Tadd Johnson, and Katie Behrend. The team will collaborate with Alerus advisors to serve clients in Arizona, Minnesota, and North Dakota,
Ruben Cardona Joins American Momentum as SBA Business Development Officer

Cardona brings over 18 years of banking experience to his new position as an SBA Business Development Officer for American Momentum. Previously, he served as an SBA loan officer at Midwest Regional Bank and before that at First National Bank of Bastrop.
Cardona attended Texas State University, where he studied accounting and finance. He has completed the Advanced SOP 50 10 Training course conducted by the National Association of Government Guaranteed Lenders (NAGGL), as well as Coleman’s Certified SBA 7(a) Loan Underwriter Training.
David Trent Joins Countybank as VP SBA Business Development Officer
“We are pleased to welcome David to Countybank’s SBA team,” says Paul Pickhardt, SBA Lending Manager at Countybank. “His expertise in commercial banking and business management make him a perfect fit for this critical leadership role in the Greenwood market.”
Devid Trent, comes to Countybank with extensive experience in commercial banking, business development, and finance. Most recently, he served as Vice President of South State Bank where he was responsible for commercial loan growth and business development in the Greenwood, South Carolina market.
As VP, SBA Business Development Officer, at Countybank, Trent will be responsible for developing and structuring loan opportunities for small and medium-sized businesses.
Trent holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from The Citadel and is a graduate of the South Carolina Bankers School and South Carolina Bankers Association Commercial Lending School.
