Main Street Monday – Grooming Future Entrepreneurs through SBA’s Emerging Leaders Program

Throughout the country, the SBA is kicking off its comprehensive training program for budding entrepreneurs for 2019.

Since 2008, the SBA’s Emerging Leaders Program has trained and helped launch over 5,000 small businesses, generated over $300 in new financing and been instrumental in creating more than 6,500 jobs.

The program provides free, SBA-sponsored in-class training, mentoring and real-time networking opportunities.

To qualify, applicants must be in business for at least three years, have at least one employee and show gross annual sales of $250,000+.

The SBA accepts 20 applicants who demonstrate the potential of high grown potential and the small business owner agrees to the seven-month commitment, typically running from April through October.

Some small business owners don’t think of the SBA unless they need capital, however, training opportunities such as these conducted by experts in their fields provide an invaluable service.

SBA training such as the Emerging Leaders Program are a real hidden gem in the journey towards future economic growth and development for Main Street.
