Montana has 130,563 small businesses, which make up 99.3% of all businesses in the state.
In 2021, total reported new lending to businesses through loans of $100,000 or less was $496.7 million.
Total reported new lending to businesses through loans of $1 million or less was $1.4 billion.
Exports by small businesses reached $1.3 billion, making up 75.3% of Montana exports.
The share of employees working at small businesses in 2020 was the highest of any state, with small businesses accounting for 67% of employment.
