Treasury Secretary Mnuchin and SBA Administrator held a press conference Thursday evening with President Donald Trump at the White House to discuss the SBA Paycheck Protection Program being launched Friday, April 3, 2020.
“We’re concerned about all small businesses and we are working feverishly to make sure that we can provide the available funds as quickly as possible. It’s 30 million small businesses that are being dealt with through the PPP, the Paycheck Protection as well as the Economic Injury Disaster Loan Program. So, we are concerned about all businesses. We are looking for employees to be ready, not lost, in this process. We want businesses to stay in tact because they represent half of the GDP. If we spend $1 Trillion to support $10-$11 Trillion, I think that is a significant investment. And that is what we are focused on” said SBA Administrator Jovita Caranza.
